I covered this MASTERPIECE and would ❤if you checked it out, thx! My fav lines are “But I'm in the trees, I'm in the breeze My footsteps on the ground You'll see my face in every place But you can't catch me now”
This is my believing of the definition of that line, I think it means how the mocking jays are there once Lucy gray tries to run for Corylanus idk how to spell his name lmao but that’s my understanding
I LOVE how the song ends with a reference to Katniss. 'Sometimes the fire you founded don't burn the way you'd expect. Yeah you thought that this was the end' Lucy was the spark. Katniss was the uncontrollable fire.
Let me get this right. "Sometimes the fire you founded don't burn the way you'd expect" references Lucy's failed attempt to kill Snow and "Yeah you thought it was the end" references how Snow is now in power and he's utterly untouchable?
Are we certain Lucy G tried to kill Snow? I think there’s doubt on that. I feel like those lyrics are referencing how Snow founded the new hunger games, as he was trying to win his prize by doing and implementing what he could to ensure Lucy G would at first be his way to the prize and later that she would just survive. He also had the hope she would join him in the capitol. In a way he founded the new hunger games and the new Lucy G, but in the end of the film and the end of his era (Hunger Game Katniss) we see how none of those things went the way he’d intended. In a way also we known or feel Lucy G and Katniss are related, so Snow could have though that he was intend untouchable and forever in power free of Lucy G, but her descendent (either literally or just thematically) Katniss would prove this wrong
@@Aptonica exactly. It actually makes more sense that Lucy didn't try to kill Snow as it was suggested that his injury wasn't that serious meaning no venom - and he clearly had no reactions. it just adds to the image of him turning crazy and he was kinda subconsciously finding reasons to kill her. basically, either way they most likely wouldn't have ended up getting a happy ending. and the mysteries we have about her is what haunts snow as well
@@cloudmmviI think that she found a safe snake without venom because she still cared about Snow, she also knew that he was dangerous for her so she used the snake to distract him while she ran away. He ended up noticing her and tried to stop her. She used the mockingjays as a last resort to escape.
This song LITERALLY explained the end of the movie and how Lucy Gray escaped and how her fate is a mystery and her relationship with snow in the end. Like the lyric “I’m higher than the hopes that you brought down” shows so much about snow. There is a reason they played this with credits, it’s because everyone was questioning if snow got her and it’s literally telling us he didn’t. Incredible song, ties so perfectly with the file, IM OBSESSED!!
I can't express how beautifully this songs encapsulates the story, it matches the feeling of the book with absolute perfection - the whimsical strength and strangeness, beautiful yet haunting, Lucy Gray's final ballad for Snow - he can't catch her and he will never escape her.
This song is so well done. It not only incapsulates the loving free spirit of Lucy Gray, but it is also an amazing symbol of snow’s love for The loose thread in his plan, the girl who got away. The girl whose fate was his final push into madness. He can’t catch her now, even though he doesn’t know what happened to her she still haunts his memories. What a hauntingly beautiful accompany to the end of this tragic story. Thank you Olivia❤
@@meraki3598 aww tysm for checking me out means a lot! And for your❤ly and kind words !so sweet of you! 😊Lord bless you and your loved ones! Amen 🙏🏻
My favourite part of the song is the delivery of "but I'm in the trees, I'm in the breeze". I still get chills all over but can't explain the feeling. It's music and stories like this that makes me feel glad to be alive to experience them.
I haven't watched the movie yet but it perfectly describes Lucy as the girl from the poem she was named after, I just love how the lyrics fit perfectly
"It's the things we love most that destroy us." People are upset this song was in the credits. But it doesn't fit anywhere else. It's the sum up of Lucy Gray's and Corio's story. So it is at the very end of the story. "Can't catch me now" gives a vibe of "the one that got away". Lucy Gray... se wasn't in his plans. He was supposed to make her an entertainer for the Capitol during the Hunger Games. And get the prize, money, turn his life around, away from the poverty he lived in for years. She was an underdog. What were the odds that she'd live more than a couple of minutes? He motivated her to sing to get donations. He cheated to keep her alive so he has the chance to win the prize. It wasn't about her until it was. And he just wanted to help her survive. And got punished for it. No prize, no future. His family evicted. He almost commited suicide because he thought it was all in vain, and she's probably dead. But he saw her and she was very much alive. I think it was that moment when he saw her sing a song in the Hub, that he felt like she's taking over his heart. When he was still balancing on the wedge of good and bad. The choices he made shaped his future. He was hapoy with her for a moment but he never wanted to live in the wild. He wanted to be in a position of power. He killed off Mayfair scared people will learn of his relationship with Lucy Gray. Then let his only friend be hung, only so he doesn't have troubles and he went on to look for Lucy Gray because he was paranoid she would turn him in. He doesn't make sure she lived and when dr Gaul tells him the 10th Hunger Games will never be re-aired he feels relief. The world won't remember Lucy Gray. She can't "haunt" him now. But she still does years later. She is everywhere. In the roses, the mockingjays, in the song "The Hanging Tree", in katniss (as a plant) and Katniss as a person. In the books he never treated her as an equal. She wouldn't be happy with him even if he took her to Capital with him. But then we wouldn't have president Snow.
why would people be upset with this song in the credits when many people love it because it's faithful adaptation to the book? It tells not just Lucy but also Rue and Katniss. I strongly believe Snow loves Lucy. He would not make huge sacrifices to save Lucy life, which other mentors have not done to their tributes. How can Snow assumes glory and power and wealth, when Lucy chances of survival at the Hunger Games is slim to none without his help. Lucy is no fighter, she is a damsel in distress Snow knew he would be penalized or punished for helping Lucy win, despite cheating and putting his family and his life at stake. If you have read the book, Snow family was rich. His mother died during childbirth and lost his sister. Snow lost his father after the first rebellion. I guess it's understandable why Snow hates rebellion/rebels or any uprising. and Snow moral deterioration to madness and descent into cruelty in the Hunger Games Trilogy was because of many tragedies in his life.
The contrast this song has with safe and sound is just so amazing. It really does show off the two character Katniss and Lucy being on the same coin different sides.
this for sure. you can hear lucys angst heartbeat heart break hopes and optimism yet innocence but then almost her ghost who learned her bitter ending singing in this song. I cant believe she really wrote this herself im sure they asked for some influence for the movie but truly a talent for her to take this much from the movie clips and my girls rachels performance as well. it really is amazing
Olivia inspires me.. My parents said if i get 1K likes on my vid They'd buy me a professional camera for recording..begging u guys , literally Begging...
Olivia was me and my moms favorite singer. My mom passed November 4th. She is in the trees and in the breeze and I know she is looking down and jamming to all of Olivias songs with me.
In my opinion this has to be Olivia’s best song writing, I love the detail, and vision she prevails. Olivia you are a lyricist. Well done, I’m glad they chose you to do the song for the hunger games for this movie. You are one step away from being an Oscar winner.❤
I love how these lyrics fit the narrative of Lucy Gray haunting Snow forever, she's everywhere he looks including in Katniss. I usually don't listen to Olivia Rodrigo's music, but this song resonates so perfectly with the Hunger Games. I love it!
I love the progression of the Snow story. How in the originals it appears that Snow is just an autocratic leader who is ruthless in how he acquires power. This is the other side of him and the primary reason why he takes such an interest in Katniss as she becomes more popular. I've often wondered if deep down Snow didn't just execute her because she reminded him so much of Lucy that he couldn't go through with it. Before the 74th HG, Snow could've easily had an 'accident' befall Katniss or poison her in her sleep. Snow had to see so much of Lucy in Katniss and know she was a person who could band the districts together in rebellion because that's what Lucy was - a symbol. But he didn't and let her compete. He also had chances to take her out after the Games but kept her alive. While it was under the guise of maintaining order, I have to wonder if he was trying to convince himself of reasons to not just make her vanish because she was so much like Lucy. It would also make sense that "the things we love always destroy us" until the very end for Snow.
this is a masterpiece, the songwriting, the way the vocals are recorded, the structure, the emotion fitting the lyrics and production of the song, I hope it will get the recognition it deserves.
After watching the movie, I can definitely say this song is like Lucy's last words to Snow. She always will be there as long as he lives, as long as he hears her song...
the lyrics are literally PERFECT. snow all around, footsteps on the ground, blood on the mountains, wading grass, she’s nailed it!! ngl i’ve never been a huge fan of olivia, but this song changed everything
The line “Sometimes the fire you’d founded, don’t burn the way you expect” was so well done. Snow was the first one that saw Lucy Gray’s potential to move and inspire people and he did in fact helped that fire burn. But in the end he was not able to control the growing and crawling fire that Lucy Gray left.

The only problem I have with this song is that it ends..that’s usually what I say when I really ❤a song.. I covered this masterpiece ,would ❤if you checked it out, thx!
I agree she deserves even more that just an Oscar ,deserves more recognition on this masterpiece and a grammy for guts! 💜I covered this masterpiece and would❤if you checked it out, thx!
i’ve always liked olivia and her music but this is a totally different story. this song has literally been on repeat for the past week and i can’t stop listening to it. between the lyrics, her voice, and the way it goes so well with the hunger games is so impressive to me. i hope she makes more music like this because this song is absolutely beautiful and 100% deserves some kind of recognition.
Such a beautiful song that is perfectly written for this movie. Such a moving song, glad my first full listen to this song was after the movie because it hits so hard. The best Hunger Games song from any of their soundtracks!!
@@corabelleboltezellsay what?sounds weird in a bad way..work on your manners gal maybe there’re some other things you should do instead of commenting useless things ..
I just finished watching the movie and these lyrics mean so much. Snow and Lucy would’ve possibly ended up well if he hadn’t betrayed Sejanus. I wish they would’ve ended up together and Snow didn’t end up as a terrible person. He had a great opportunity. Though, if he ended up with Lucy, we wouldn’t have the original Hunger Games movies.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard a song so mesmerizing, romantic, mysterious, catchy, & beautifully written all in one ever. This song fit in absolutely perfect with the book & movie. Olivia Rodrigo, you are mastermind!!! Also, this movie & book was absolutely mesmerizing. The cinematography, the set design, the actors/acting, the acting - truly amazing. The Hunger Games revolution is now 🏹🤎
This song is truly an incredible masterpiece. I’m honestly blown away. The attention to detail in the lyrics… just wow. It’s like a final message from Lucy Gray to Snow, of how she’s gone but she’ll never truly leave him, how her spirit will be haunting his forever, first through her and then tying in Katniss at the end. I feel as though Lucy Gray was he only thing keeping Snow from jumping off the edge of his humanity and you can hear that spirit in the song come to life. This is stunning
This is perfect, only those who have watched or read the books will understand the weight of the words mentioned in the song and the song itself, Olivia never makes a mistake
I’m being dead honest when I think of this song I feel like I’m in my dream place where there is trees and grass flowers and I’m playing on my violin and with my future lover and us watching the blue sky and the white clouds and every time I hear this song I think of my dream place Nature😊
The first time I listened to this song I knew it was perfect for the movie. It perfectly captured the feeling the hunger games movies give me and also explain snow now that I’ve watched the movie. Olivia really did amazing with this
Hi Olivia! You are my #1 artist I have listened to this year I just want you to know you are beautiful and amazing and EXTREMELY talented💖 Bye Olivia Love you so much Goodbye💖💖🙏
The music is so haunting, the lyrics, Olivia is so beautiful in here, I’m really in awe of her. I love this song for The Hunger Games. All the best luck to her in her career❤️
Olivia your voice is amazing my fav part is " But i'm in the trees i'm in the breeze my footsteps on the ground youll see my face in every place but you cant catch me now".
Your lyrics are more than poetry, they are incantations of success. With each verse, a spell is cast, transforming challenges into opportunities and dreams into tangible realities 😍
I love how you can hear the Fleetwood Mac influence at the end, the layering of the harmonies is really similar to what they did in "The Chain" and the effect is mesmerizing
Asunith Jones I love walk to the hunger games that are amazing characters ever in my life a little wiggle you are amazing singer and actress every time you'll always sing your song like a butterfly and my stomach that's why I want to be a single just like you like a big and be a superstar this is Austin your biggest fan ever and I love you but if I trip and I love a little bit Rico so much she's amazing single and actress and that's why she wanted to explain your women to be a singer and actress😊
The way this song explains all the movies in one. Lucy was Snow´s chance to a better life but his paranoia didn’t let him and Lucy was the trigger. Ever since Katniss came to light he saw Lucy in her and that made his paranoia stronger than ever, the mockngjay, the Hanging tree song, the way she resembled Lucy´s fire. That made him furious and that made him want to destroy it all, district 12, the mockingjay and Lucy. This song describes how Lucy is playing with him, telling him that he would never kill her and her legacy, that is his paranoia. Incredible song and storytelling! Good job Olivia!!
Come out of an abusive relationship 5 years ago and this song relates to me being free 5 years on and being an unrecognisable women from what he made me 5 years ago. He can’t catch me now because im stronger than the person he made me years ago x
