la vedad que todos los equipos son muy buenos, y si México tiene que ganar vs Canadá. a diferencia del futbol vemos al equipo mexicano con varios nacionalizados muy muy buenos, no se porque en la selección de futbol se critica mucho el llamar a nacionalizados, bueno igual y no hay buenos jugadores que ameriten estar en la selección.

futbol es bueno pero hay que sacar esa pinch regla de offsides para tener mas carreras

@DIVAL Cheers for asking and the kind words. And to answer your question: No. Barely anyone in the UK will know this is happening. Heck, I've talked to people in my local area who think Mexico is in South America! But, mostly, baseball is a (somewhat derided) mystery over here. There is definitely a small but dedicated British baseball fandom - from 1997-2008 we had a great twice weekly show with a roundup and live (occasionally 'as live') game [lookup: 'MLB on Five' Wikipedia], but it was very niche and broadcast at 1am often until sunrise! That combined with a dominant Yankees team, the Sosa/McGwire HR race, Red Sox breaking the Bambino's curse, D'backs 99WS at the BOB etc… did a lot to generate and foster a love for the game. My son got chance to grow up playing catch and loving baseball, but no school opportunities to play - maybe not so bad, he's a classical pianist now (lol). Mainstream media in the UK only rarely mentions baseball nowadays, unless it's a pitifully easy quiz question (that people usually don't know the answer to!). This year's looking up a little. 24 & 25 June the Cards and Cubs will be playing a two game series in London - to be televised on the BBC. Trouble is, without regular TV coverage any attention will likely be fleeting and more for the novelty value. At least, I guess, a few of us are paying attention. And the team definitely deserve a lot more national recognition for their talent and hard work. Enjoy the rest of the competition and good luck against Puerto Rico!

@Wraithing mexican here, i was at this game and was super impressed by great britain this tournament. genuinely curious, though- does anybody in britain know that this is going on? i imagine perhaps maybe the small amount of brits who play baseball/softball know about it, but what about the general public?

​@Kiran Parker lol - if baseball made the top 100 sports I'd be genuinely shocked. It's not just football (soccer), 2 types of rugby, cricket, cycling, golf, tennis, horse racing, F1, athletics, snooker and darts that would be ahead of baseball - even bowls, boat racing and a dog show are televised in the UK, but a national team playing in a world sporting event gets zero TV coverage. Even losing honourably, how delightful GB could field such a competitive team - with so little national support. Something to be proud of would have been nice to see on TV rather than 'celebrity' dating shows and our endless parade of disgraceful and embarrassing politicians.

@Ricardo This WBC has been crazy exciting. Seeing teams like Aus and Italy advance, and seeing teams that were supposed to do nothing like GB win games has been so much fun to watch. I still think Japan/US are the favorites, but anything can happen, especially since there's a chance the US doesn't even advance.

@Ricardo Canada also advances with a win but (likely) not with a loss (depending how the potential tiebreaker goes if Colombia should also win). Pretty big for them, too.
