Lana Del Rey - The Grants REACTION 

I love when artists make music for themselves and not just to please the fans. A song that’s not mainstream but obviously has a lot of significance to queen, it’s beautiful

She also pays tribute to her uncle, David Grant who died in 2016 while climbing the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. He taught Lana to play the guitar.

I feel like her main message in this song is that life is beautiful, and that when we die all we can do is remember our memories, so we should to make our memories beautiful

I think with this song she’s letting her loved ones know that she will take her memories of them with her when she’s gone 🥲 even sweeter when you realize the song that follows this on the album is about asking us to not forget her like the tunnel under ocean blvd. 😭

This song is not the mainstream song everyone knows and sings with on the radio. This is for the fans. For everyone who has lost someone. Everyone who needs a reminder of the good in the world. Her lyricism is beautiful as always, her voice so delicate and emotional.

sorry for bombarding you John, we just love your insightful commentary haha. Twitter stans are hating on the song online but I think it's stunning. Lana recently lost her grandma which appears to be the inspiration for the song. Lana also said the intro was the gospel singers making a mistake but she was drawn to the beauty of a small imperfection which she thought was perfect for the intro of the album.

For years I thought that God know I tried was going to be played at my funeral one day, until I heard the Grants, and it hit me so much more powerfully - it's a perfect funeral song ngl 🥲😅

This song makes you realize how important and pivotal family is to our lives regardless how we want them to be or not. Might as well take the best memories we have with us.

I’ve lost all of my grandparents and I just turned 25. Last year I also lost my Uncle to cancer and it was heartbreaking. It’s sad to go through life without them. Lana really captures the importance of keeping their memories alive in her new song ❤

Lana is very gifted when it comes to song construction. She reminds me of Elliot Smith or Harry Nilsson in that way. Maybe even a bit of Bowie.

I just love how clear her voice is coming through, where she usually uses it to complement and almost as an instrument, it just cuts through like it hasn't in a really long time! And the build up is just...chefs kiss

Lana's song is a love letter to her family, ancestors, future family, and a certain man. Her pastor said in Lana's view that when you die you carry your memories of loved ones with you to heaven, since Lana says "I'll take mine (my memories) of you (along) with me."

I think this song is about how your childhood and family can shape you and no matter where you go that will follow you but it’s up to you to want to take the good things with you and leave the negative things you were taught.

This song is soooo beautiful! I can't get enough of it.

I think it's about loving someone deeply but not being able to be with them and she's clearing out all her ancestral trauma - doing the hard stuff - inspired by this and all the love she feels for others too (her uncle). We go back to source when we go and can take the beautiful things with us (memories)

This album is already addictive

it's about her finally being happy and seeing the beauty in life, the things she loves and will take with her when she dies. i believe she also makes a quick comment about how her father probably hopes that the relationship between lana and her mother will get better in the first line. lana talks A LOT about how her mother raised her in a very narcissistic way ever since her poetry book "Violet Bent Backwards Over The Grass" but it got even more obvious on her last 2 albums, Chemtrails Over The Country Club and Blue Banisters, the second talking about it the most.... so yeah, it's probably about what makes her family the grant family yk? the good and the bad that makes them singular in their own way, her brother, her sister, her sister's baby, her dad and even her mom, although they have problems.

Lana Del Ray is a special artist and her voice and songs are just pure amazing 👏👏

It’s rare I get this emotional when listening to a song for the first time. This, perhaps because of the infusion of Gospel (funny I’m an Atheist), hit me like a tidal wave. For me, the recurring idea of taking specific memories is less about Lana and more about those individuals she’s referencing. As someone who has recently been fighting bone cancer in my 30’s - doing OK now - I’d like to believe someday people I’ve crossed paths with will do the same as she is.

I don't know what was about your reaction, that took me off guard this time and made me fully cry to this song, even though it came out few days ago already and I've listend to it multiple times since that plus I got the time to research all the meanings etc. But this time, it made me fully emotional 💔 and I love how this song is growing on me, because I have to admit, that when I first listend to it I was sceptical.
