What gets me, is how the F.A.S.T. guys take stock looking, stock suspended, polyglass-tired musclecars and run nines through exhaust manifolds and mufflers. No turbos, no slicks, no 4 links. Just leaf springs, factory part numbered heads, intakes, carbs, and exhaust manifolds, on reproduction 60s style polyglass tires. Nines. Mind blowing.

Great video! All nice cars, great owners with history attached to them. The Comet definitely has some Mojo. I like the fact that he didn't destroy the body lines by cutting up the rear fenders. The true blue Firebird running the Pontiac 400 is cool. The Camaro/hemi guy is about as humble as you can get!

14L Cummins would be a N14 probably for those wondering. IF he got that for 75$ than that was a steal. Most turbos for semis are 1200$ to 2500$ depends on engine make and model. Used probably would go for 500 $

Sometimes a racer doesn't care about heads up racing. He just wants to test the set up and based on its behavior at the track, they make notes for changes or modifications. Also, many of them don't want to risk the car in the other lane crossing over and hitting them.

@Pro-Series Fabrication oh and by the way man who built his car using the turbo said he took that turbo apart and replaced one of the wheels I'm guessing he probably modified the Turbo charger to put enough boost for the 460 engine will spin up a turbo made for an 855 cubic inch or as one person suggested maybe he didn't do anything at all but just bolted on as we know that 460 cubic inch Ford is going at least 7,000 RPM are there about compared to a Cummins twice as big butt half the RPM BatDad Burnet all we need is a couple of secrets that he did but yes those are feel pretty cheap to exchange for a rebuild that might be the best way to go I guess Reeboks a Twist of Hardware to make it bolt ons any buddies race car that size engine and you might make a some profit but who knows until you do because nobody's doing it

@Pro-Series Fabrication back in 92 I was working for a trucking outfit called Hoffman Trucking he had a contract with Great Dane to pull all the brand new trailers to Chicago from Brazil Indiana Mike Hoffman the owner hires me to service and maintenance on these rigs that were cabover single axle binders they called him I call an inter trashtional junksters. IH for real but the best entertainment of all I missed by about 15 minutes one day as one of the units stoll had a factory International Turbo that sucked a seal as I was warned to take a hammer and break the oil line off going to the turbo in case this ever happened.. Mike's cousin we called diesel had failed to do as we had a Cummins diesel drink 11 gallons of oil before it decided to turn itself off that's right the11 gallon oil pan was dry as she finally flamed out with the tachometer twisted around the dial about 7 times as I pulled in for my shift only to witness the aftermath darn it and our brand new White Rock parking lot what is now black Slim Rock so I had the audacity to explain to diesel whenever a engine runs away like that you're supposed to hit that oil on with your ball ping Hammer so it cannot drink the pan. Diesel said when that thing was running away I was running the other way ..so that i get the job of replacing the turbo that look like made by the flintstones with a brand new holset of the day .as i said is that all we are going to do and send it out just like this , diesel says its running now anit it ...butbut diesel should we at least pull a valve cover and look in as your the one who heard it crank up like indy car ..well it made it back from shy town what is valve lash noise like crazy, I told the center valve cover as as the heads looked all cooked where it's been hot and the valve trains bone dry inside no oil diesel runs over to Terre Haute get a replacement head is that here slept this on but but shouldn't we try to figure out what happened he says there ain't got that Time and they send it out again this time it doesn't come back only on a lowboy what happened to cam bearing turn controlling the oil to the the middle head but finding it out the second time call C can bring to spin in the block and cracked the block right to the cam bearing Journal into the drive Journal run the air compressor plus diesel pump game over
Pro-Series Fabrication
Leftover Holsets are cheap, especially the 90s ones with H followed by a number. I paid $80 for an H1E (almost identical compressor map to a 62-1) 15 years ago. One of the guys next door to my shop uses a big rig H2E for a door stop . . . nothing is wrong with it as far as I know, it's just ~30 year old turbo technology.

Comet pretty much had to get a tilt front or a liftoff, the front frame's been changed out for what looks like a mustang II based setup intended for a hot rod, and the cage integrated in with front hangers. There's nowhere left to hang the stock sheetmetal... comets are falcon chassis, stamped subframe and tall sheetmetal shock towers with springs on the upper arms. All of that's gone, and that's also your inner fender and core support structure. All that likely done because there's zero chance of dropping a 385 series V8 in one without getting rid of at least those shock towers, and just modding the subframe for a mustang II unit can be done but you leave big holes in the inner fenders and all that sheetmetal gets floppy and grows when you reinforce it (i.e. mod/reinforce is heavier than stock).

Pro-Series Fabrication
@mewrongway "Up until a few years ago, the fastest Modular engine had a factory Ford forged crank, running a best of 6.05-seconds in the 1/4-mile." www.enginelabs.com/features/clearing-up-mod-motor-misconceptions-with-john-mihovetz/ We got it. You are into boat anchor LS motors with technology from the 1910s. Again, from the beginning because none of your posts ever address the BS you started on: the LS engine isn't as strong, isn't as capable, and certainly isn't as efficient as an OHC design from Ford. Valve curtain area matters and your antiquated hero motor simply cannot compete.
mewrongway
mewrongway Hace 2 meses
@Pro-Series Fabrication Dream on buddy! It was not a stock crank!! Ask anyone, they will tell you that Ford does not make the BRYANT crank! Use google, it is your friend! I did not say that the heads was not Ford castings. I said they were modded. Damn you cant even read! No the LS was a factory unmodded for the first 3 years, then Hennessey built a expermental billet head! Again google is your friend! Stop being so butt hurt and just take your beating like a man. Whether the LS had a stock, a billet or horse shit head does not change the fact that a LS went 308mph as apposed to Fords best being 248! lol Learn to read, I clearly stated modified factory heads. Yes Mihovetz ran a 5 sec 1/4 with a 4.6 that had a aftermarket crank, rods, pistons and modded heads! He also ran that speed for 5 seconds before a rebuild! Took 60lbs boost! The LS7 is making 308mph on 22lb boost! The Hennessey running a stock bottom, stock heads, stock crank, stock rods has been doing it for 3 years not for 5 seconds! LMFAOG I know John and his car! It boasted a factory aluminum 4.6-liter block and a Bryant aftermarket crank. The heads, which are also modified factory pieces, come from the Ford GT powerplant. When that motor survives full power for 100 miles come back and we will talk! Sorry bud, try again! The simple fact that every Mustang at the track having a LS under the hood says that it is you that has no clue! Keep the stupid posts coming, I love a good laugh! www.goldeagle.com/tips-tools/with-the-most-recalls-of-them-all-is-ford-the-least-reliable-brand/
Pro-Series Fabrication
@mewrongway mihovetz ran 5.80s with the stock crank. Modded heads, LO freaking L. Every head is "modded" once you start changing valve springs. They are still FACTORY castings. The LS required BILLET heads with revised valve angles and giant ports because a 2v doesn't have the CURTAIN AREA multivalve heads have. AGAIN, you don't have a clue. The LS motor is the best production pushrod motor that's been produced and it still sucks compared to a lowly modular motor.
Pro-Series Fabrication
@mewrongway you sound 17 and just got into cars. Mihovetz ran a 5 second 1/4mi like 5 years ago with a factory Ford teskid 4.6 modular block, factory Ford crankshaft and factory Ford GT heads. An LS based car just barely ran in the 5s like a month ago in mineshaft air and that was with aftermarket everything. Valve curtain area wins everytime. Your magazine times don't supercede actual physics. Sorry bud.

Find any old semi sitting and take it off, they sell replacement turbos for the Detroit 60series on line for $400, ran one on a Volvo semi, works fine, Google it, you can put just about anything you want on a motor, two small turbos or one large

I like how organized you are. You have timestamps and the video is only 12 mins. People won’t even do that on 30 min+vids

AT 6:41 he literally ruins the right lane. Dumped fuel everywhere.

@B It comes out the filler tube, which is behind the license plate on that car. That's fuel, it's blowing past the cap gasket under acceleration.

Most other comments I'm reading saying same. You wont see a wet spot with the track bite they put down for traction during prepping that makes the track shine. 11 comment down

@Hunt Gaming/Productions try dumping a drink out at 100+ mph it wont even look like it hits the ground. After watching again I'm 98% positive its fuel. Comes out of the license plate.

@Hunt Gaming/Productions I've actually seen it happen before. A lot of the older cars gas caps are behind the license plate where it looked like it was coming from. I dont know what would have caused steam other than cooling hose busting and spraying the track with antifreeze which is worse. Either way I dont think it was the drivers fault. We may never know.
