yeah it's so true, my gripe with today's popular guitar music is the lack of distortion, but a clean guitar is better than no guitar at all! guitar gods for lyfe!! (I mean John Mayer is heavier than this, but I digress)

@Bisquick My two favorites. Cascade was a long-time favorite, just recently discovered Pan as I was booking a ticket for his concert in Finland, and I'm completely blown away by it, blasting it on repeat!

I just searched it again on Spotify, and just typing in “sunset tim” causes polyphia, plini, and Cory wong to pop up before the artist literally named sunset tim. They know what we want.

Not just that, but also how clearly each of their playing styles comes through in the song as well. Cory's much more funk-influenced playing, Plini's meticulous phrasing and expressiveness, and Tim's sharp attack and fusion of different styles of playing.

why not? Cory wong is like an entrepreneur. He's been constantly trying to branch out to different genres for exposure. The guy's a good rhythm guitarist, but he's way more popular than his techniques would command. enjoyed his jazz days much more.

Personally, I'm a fan of the widdly widdlys

In reality, you can almost criticize any kind of music by breaking it into some negative trope. Classical Metal is long-winded boring and the same shredded sound over and over again, pop music is repetitive and has a predictable chord pattern, Rock & Roll is not versatile and the solos are all pentatonic scales and the vocals are underwhelming, etc. I think its a rather lazy way to criticize music. I don't think Elevator music is inherently bad, but the only thing this has in common with it is a happy sounding twingy guitar playing a catchy chorus. Likely the criticism is that the guitar community has in the past been super conservative about changes to the sound and mixing sounds with EDM/Trap
