I own this Waring Pro Double waffle Maker. I have had 2 of them in the last 8 yrs, The first one lasted barely over the warranty and Warring Pro had No problem sending me a new one, The one I have now , one of the waffles will not cook properly and one does still work fantastically. So now I find myself hunting for the Last Waffle Maker I will ever buy.. Waring Pro makes a commercial double waffle maker but that is some serious $$, Looked at Kitchenaid will get something before Christmas and hope not to spend more than $200 I tell you what , The Goodnight Waffle that came with the Warning PRO Has a recipe for the best waffle ever

whats the amp/power of the double waffle maker? is it close to 15 amps?
SeikiBrian
SeikiBrian Hace 8 meses
It's 1400 Watts, so at 120 volts that would be 11.6 Amps and at 110 Volts would be 12.7 Amps.

I used to own the runner up. The waffles come out pretty, but they taste funny as if the outside is over cooked even when not left in too long. And that means the fluffy inside is super thin. I think this is due to the very deep waffling pattern.

I have the single-waffle version. Works well. I set the temp dial to 4-1/2. Sometimes, I'll put the finished waffle into a hot toaster oven for about 15 seconds to crisp it up a little. Recipe: pancake batter with extra milk. See: The Ultimate Pancake www.amazon.com/dp/098003468X/

The Waring Pro is under 100, I think that's a steal. You get two waffles at a time and it looks nice to boot.

I'm surprised that All Clad wasn't included in this testing? I've had mine for at least 10 years now, always reliable but not cheap. Oh, maybe that is why it wasn't included? I believe AC's are in the $200 range? Not sure.

Adam: "We set a price cap of a hundred dollars..." The All-Clad Classic Waffle Maker is $129.95 at Williams Sonoma, and the All-Clad Four Square is $199.95, although I don't know how much they were when this segment was shot; it was part of an episode that aired in February of 2017.

SeikiBrian I hate Belgium waffles, and I feel pretty bloated after eating one, the texture is also pretty gross if you freeze them, so there’s food waste vs smaller waffles. Thanks for the mansplaining and telling me how to live my life, always appreciated. 🤗
SeikiBrian

Thickness isn't the main factor in carbohydrate intake; mass is. If you eat one segment of these thick waffles you'll be consuming fewer carbs than if you eat a whole thin waffle.

I have the Waring pro and love it so much! Makes beautiful and evenly browned waffles every single time. I’ve had it for 3 years. My mom even brings it to daycare to cook for the 24 goobers in her class. Wish the plates were removable tho for when I make liege waffles. I compensate by making sacrificial waffles to grab the caramelized sugar from coking liege waffles lol.

I have a pre-WWII waffle maker. It's made of cast iron and rests in a cast iron ring. Non-electric, no batteries, no beeps, no lights. Works on everything from a campfire to a regular (not ceramic top) stove top. Not exactly Belgian waffles, height-wise, but great waffles all the same.

Missing a lot of contenders and seems most and for good reason suffer the same issues as any cooking platform including learning the temperature curve. Nothing in the cooking arena is ever going to make one thing or many things over and over 100%. If you choose one, it's more about reliability then absolute perfection every time. Perfection in most cases will come from learning the curve. What you should have done was spent more time throwing names under the bus so they could come back to answer you. No names, only the winner. Well if you want to bring 14 units out there then show them in action and why they are good and the bad; as I said before everything in the kitchen has it's learning curve. Fact is you have to prove results good or bad up front not in the back kitchen. Is what it is. I don't even think you were selling this thing, it might have been the absolute truth; but that needs to be seen.

Waring/Cuisinart: I own a belgian waffle maker that is now a door stop, after having made about 20 waffles with it. My waffle maker broke at the pivot point one year after the end of the warranty. I can not get a replacement part to fix it myself. That part was badly engineered and failed prematurely. They don't bother to supply their customers with repair parts. Won't buy any of their products in the future.

Now I'm a multi-site subscriber (America's Test Kitchen, Cook's Illustrated, Cook's Country, etc.) and I consider it worth every penny. I also got a chance to meet four of the cast/staff members at the America's Test Kitchen: Seattle EATS event a few months ago; outgoing, friendly, and knowledgeable people. I walked out with several cookbooks that I hadn't planned on buying, but after flipping through the pages I couldn't resist.

SeikiBrian
SeikiBrian Hace 8 meses
The new rounds of all tests are available to all who subscribe to their Web site. You know, those of us who actually financially support their tests. However here's what they say about the winning Belgian waffle maker: "Cuisinart has terminated its Waring Pro line. Our winning Belgian waffle iron, the Waring Pro Double Belgian Waffle Maker (model WMK600), is now called the Cuisinart Double Belgian Waffle Maker (model WAF-F20B). We purchased the new model, tested it, and, despite a minor cosmetic change of the heat-control knob, its status has not changed; it remains our favorite."

We've had the Presto for over 10 years. It's still going strong, although the non-stick is getting a little sticky at this point. A little spray and it's fine. I've seen it for as little as $25 on sale. They have a recipe for "Flavorful Whole Grain Waffles" with some whole wheat and oat flower that is a family favorite.

Waffles were big in the 1950s, and after the '64 World's Fair, Belgian Waffles took off. They started becoming less fashionable in the '80s, but they seem to be enjoying a resurgence now. I'm like you, in that I don't normally buy "mono-taskers," but I do have two: an ice cream maker and a waffle maker.

@lightdark00 "...a superior show like Milk Street." Superior? I got one free issue of the "Milk Street Kitchen" magazine (before he got a cease and desist order to stop using the name he seemingly stole from a restaurant down the street and changed it to just "Milk Street"), and I watched one episode of the show and almost turned it off half-way through. I stuck it out, and regretted doing so. Horrible show. And I certainly didn't subscribe to the magazine. I did, however, renew my subscription to Cook's Illustrated magazine and my all-site subscription to the ATK Web sites.

Because Chris Kimball ripped off the company and stole proprietary information to start a new company and line his own pockets, so they rightly ousted him? Chris Kimball never brought a thing to ATK except for a haughty attitude and a bow tie. Many of the long-timers you still see now and former staffers like J. Kenji Lopez-Alt were always the skill and talent behind ATK.
