What a match! Both players made a great comeback, congrats Shifeng for the first super 1000 final, and it’s nice to see Anders back to the competitions ❤

Both played well.. Antonsen still has his little dirty antics, but overall his performance was superb, it's great to see him back.. But LSF was on another level, specially in the 1st set he was so unstoppable, too fast, too strong, too skilled.. Congratulations!

Li Shi Feng is so calm although he is just 23. He moves really fluently and show no feelings in any situation. He really got me after this game and final game

What a match! The momentum was swinging back and forth. I have to say this clearly: Again we are seeing unsportsman-like behavior from Antonsen like in his match against Nishimoto. Delaying the serve etc.(obviously not as bad) I really cant root for a player like this and I really would like to!

Li Shi Feng was obviously mad about that, he kinda stared at Antonsen when he won the first 4-5 points in the 3rd game.

I think there’s more to it than you want to admit. It’s easy just saying Antonsen’s the bad guy. But if you look closely in both matches, Nishimoto & Li are serving the same kind of cadence all match and suddenly in 3rd game when it’s close they try to serve when Antonsen barely raised his racket. It’s mind games, it’s just that Nishimoto & Li are sneaky about it. But they know. Just as Li was perfectly aware he was delaying the match with his toe injury bullshit. Seemed perfectly fine after that

@AlexTheGreat you know Korean WD players always use medical timeout in the same situation...but no one comment on that all..that's within the rule..but what Anyonsen did is another story..
AlexTheGreat
AlexTheGreat Hace 6 meses
@GHH the rules also say that you have to wait that your opponent get in position before serving. Not barely waiting for him to raise his racket

The problem with Antonson is that he pretended he didn't know his fault at 8:4 in the first game. All the players should have been taught and briefed of the rule book. A very good actor.

This game should have been won in straight sets in favour of LI. if not for LI's blistered left toe, this game could not have lasted 3 sets. Clearly, LI was struggling in the 2nd set after leading by a huge margin. His physical movements was uneasy until he requested for injury time to stabilise his blistered toe to numb the pain. Again, LI was clearly struggling in the 3rd set, but his tenacity and fighting spirit defined his moment of glory at match point 20/18 crushing his Danish opponent. It has been a longtime coming, All Chinese Affair in the 2023 All England Championships. Podium 1st & 2nd China.

The match between Antonsen and Nishimoto at the Japan Open last year, eh…! Proven the shittiest player of the tournament! Extremely pleased that the same outcome for both matches! I didn’t like Li having his foot checked and sprayed when Antonsen was leveling up, and I think that was just a tactic rather than a serious injury. some players like using a medical timeout way too often when losing the momentum. However, it’s still within the rules, whereas interrupting opponents service through “actings” is so over the top!

@Family Chen how coincident his blister was bothering him only at the last minute when he was about to lose the 2nd game. Plus they showed his foot on camera and nothing jumped out to me. Can’t tell if it’s truly fake of course but there’s a fair probability that it is
Somnaventu _s
Somnaventu _s Hace 6 meses
@AlexTheGreat I’d say the medical timeout is both honest and strategic, he was having the pain long before the timeout, but endured until Antonsen started gaining momentum. As to being perfectly fine afterwards, the pain should be gone from the numbing spray

I always laugh when players complain that their opponent doesn't want to change the shuttle. They spend thousands of hours training with the most beat-up shuttles you could find, and then complain when one feather strand is out of place during a tournament. It's the same shuttle for both players. It's not very environmentally friendly to use so many during a match.

Faye Chen
Faye Chen Hace 6 meses
@AlexTheGreat Antonsen took time to prepare himself, and then he raised his racket and other hand, and looked straight at Li, indicating he was ready for the serve. Li did serve quickly, but he waited until his opponent indicated he was ready for the serve. Once you're ready, you can't decide not to take the serve just because you feel like it. Once you are in your receiving stance with your head up, the opponent is well within his rights to serve.
Faye Chen
Faye Chen Hace 6 meses
@AlexTheGreat He also has a history of abusing lets, most prominently in the Japan open against Nishimoto, in which he repeatedly called for lets, a ridiculous number of times. When caught unprepared for a flick serve, he wants lets. When the flick serve is out, he changes his mind and wants the point, despite having called for the let. The umpire did not give that point to Antonsen. On another occasion, he actually hit the birdie but still had the serve called a let, which is just blatantly illegal.
AlexTheGreat
AlexTheGreat Hace 6 meses
@Faye Chen Honestly I think it’s debatable. When the opponent serves a certain way all match and then tries to surprise you as soon as you are ready… like even in slowmo we can see it was done almost at the same time. 0.1 second passed by. I’m not saying everything he did was okay in Nishimoto match, but here I think it’s legitimate for Anders to be disturbed by it
